Watch me get mobbed by 3rd graders in Taihe!
This little episode from my recent stop in Taihe was certainly too surreal of an experience not to get on film. Kudos to Tex for the live narration.

Wah I’ve been reading this blog since you were washing hair in Fuzhou, and this is the first time I’ve seen you I think! First time in a video anyway.

@maxiewawa
Yeah, if you wanna know the truth, I just finally figured out how to embed video in wordpress. I was using an older version of wordpress before, and whenever I would imbed the youtube code, it wouldn’t display properly. I upgraded a few months ago and….voila. So that’s probably why you’ve never seen me before. I actually have quite a few goofy old videos that I’m planning on putting up soon, now that I have this thingy figured out.

Ben, i have also experienced this type of mobbing by students when i visited
number one middle school in Songxi .A few of my relatives had come to China for a holiday and came to songxi to meet my wife’s family , it was on this occasion that (somehow) the headmaster had been told of all the laowai that would be in the village and had arranged for a few of the student’s to meet them.The top english students and a few teacher’s invited them all to karaoke as a meet and greet affair ,there it was also arranged by my gugu that we would all go to the school the next day .After meeting the headmaster the school bell went for break and we were surronded by hundreds of students
who all wanted to chat ,then we were invited into a class to meet a few more in a more relaxed atmosphere .We were all lined up in the front of class and after the clapping, one girl came nervously up to me and shook my hand and we exchanged a few words .Gasp’s went round the room and this bold move by one student was the catalist for the rest of them to surge forward and mob all of us , we answered questions at first and then the original girl asked me to sign her school book and…….wooosh it went around the class like wild fire ,every one running back to their desk’s to get books for us all to sign.Reflecting on this event has given me a little bit of sympathy for the famous people in the worl (but not too much). The one thing i really remember about this (apart from a slightly aching wrist) was after i left the class, my wife pulled me to one side and said ” huh, i notice that the girl came to you first ,do you like the beautiful girl more than me” and then made that little noise only chinese women seem to make when slightly miffed .I still chuckle to myself when i think of this.chuckle chuckle .Anyhoo ,still enjoying your blog’s ,keep em coming . jon.
