In September of 2011 I embarked on an 18-day tour through the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. I planned my itinerary looking to explore some of Western Europe’s earliest examples of urbanization and industrialization, and to glean first-hand insight as to how these areas have persisted in the post-industrial age. Also of interest were ethnic and immigrant communities in European urban centers, particularly Chinatowns. The following are photo essays from the 14 stops on my trip. Enjoy.
